Delta State Police Command Crush Kidnap Gang, Rescue Three Victims

The Delta State Police Command has dismantled a kidnapping syndicate, rescued three victims, and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a coordinated security operation in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the operation followed a kidnapping report received at the Issele-Uku Division on March 16, 2026. Acting promptly, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aderemi Badiru, mobilised a joint task force comprising police operatives, military personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters to launch a search-and-rescue mission.

Security teams combed nearby bushes and identified suspected hideouts used by the kidnappers. The operation turned intense when the suspects engaged operatives in a fierce gun battle. During the exchange, one member of the gang was fatally wounded, while the three kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

Further combing of the forest led to the arrest of a suspect, Ahmadu Hassan, 22, from Kange Village in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, who was found with gunshot injuries.

Operatives also recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition at the scene.

Police confirmed that another injured suspect later died, and his body has been deposited in a mortuary, while the arrested suspect is receiving treatment under custody.

Efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing gang members. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the operatives and urged public support.
