APC Primaries: Yusuf Buhari Emerges Candidate for Daura Constituency

The son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State.

Yusuf Buhari won by a large margin, receiving 5,849 votes in the primary election. His nearest competitor, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, got 21 votes.

The election results have caught the attention of political groups in Katsina State, mainly because there was a large gap between the two candidates.

APC supporters in the area celebrated soon after the votes were announced. Many called Yusuf Buhari’s win an important political event before the general election.

The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency is seen as a key political area in Katsina State because of its ties to the Buhari family and the strong support for the ruling APC there.
