The Delta State Executive Council has officially approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of multiple critical roadways spanning various parts of the state. The decisions were reached during a council meeting held at the Government House in Asaba, with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori presiding over the proceedings.
Briefing members of the press after the meeting, Charles Aniagwu, the Commissioner for Works for Rural Roads and Public Information, outlined the scope of the newly approved infrastructure projects. He was joined during the media briefing by Festus Ahon, who serves as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
Among the prominent approvals is the first phase of the Warri Ring Road project, which encompasses the stretch running from the First Marine Gates to the Port Gate. Additionally, the council sanctioned the rehabilitation of the connecting road stretching from the Old Port Gate directly to the Nigerian Ports Authority Expressway.
Further infrastructure updates include rapid rehabilitation and asphalt overlays designated for Airport Road in Warri, along with Jakpa Road and Refinery Road in Effurun. Officials noted that the intervention on Refinery Road became urgent due to significant deterioration that had severely impacted local motorists and residents navigating the axis.
Beyond the Warri and Effurun corridor, the state executive body also authorized scope extensions for ongoing flyover developments. These include additional construction works at the Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli as well as complementary corridor expansions toward College Junction in Agbor.
