The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, has urged Nigerians not to blame President Bola Tinubu for the recent increases in fuel prices across the country. Speaking at an APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State, Yari argued that Nigeria cannot remain an exception to global economic pressures that affect energy markets worldwide.
He noted that even Saudi Arabia, recognized as one of the world's leading oil producers, has adjusted its domestic fuel prices upwards. According to Yari, the ongoing fluctuations and upward trends in energy costs are driven by international crude oil market dynamics rather than arbitrary decisions by domestic leadership alone.
Addressing the crowd during the political gathering, Yari called for patience and public support for the current administration. He maintained that policy decisions such as fuel subsidy removal, while difficult in the short term, are designed to yield long-term structural benefits for the Nigerian economy.
The rally also featured remarks from other prominent party figures, including Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu and former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole, who addressed various national political issues ahead of upcoming electoral cycles. Yari reiterated that citizens should view domestic economic challenges within the broader context of global market realities.
