The Director General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has established an ambitious electoral target for Rivers State, calling on party faithful to secure 2.3 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming January 16 election. Speaking before a gathering of supporters in Port Harcourt, Yari emphasized that the target is achievable based on current voter registration data and permanent voter card collection statistics gathered across the state.
According to Yari, out of approximately 3.3 million registered voters and roughly 2.8 million collected permanent voter cards in Rivers State, securing 2.3 million ballots represents an attainable goal that aligns with the party's expectations of capturing a significant majority. He noted that the leadership anticipates winning at least 80 percent of the total vote share in the region, pointing to the active mobilization efforts currently underway by coalition supporters and local organizers.
During the rally, party leaders also highlighted past electoral performance and economic arguments in support of the administration. Senate President Godswill Akpabio reminded attendees that Rivers was the only South-South state won decisively by Tinubu in the 2023 elections, expressing confidence that the electorate would replicate that outcome. Meanwhile, national party officials defended the administration's economic policies and urged unity among diverse political factions within the state to ensure a successful campaign finish.
