Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has publicly declared that current Governor Hope Uzodimma does not possess the necessary grassroots political backing to deliver Imo State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Making his remarks during a television interview appearance, Okorocha contended that the sitting governor maintains visibility primarily within the Presidential Villa in Abuja rather than among local voters on the ground.
The former governor spoke out shortly after securing a legal victory involving political disputes within the state. According to Okorocha, a new cross-party approach is essential to secure electoral success for the ruling administration in the Southeast region, endorsing a coalition strategy that brings together multiple political interests.
Okorocha announced plans to return to Imo State to help establish a local chapter of the Rainbow Coalition, an initiative associated with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. He explained that this unified front would draw support from members of both the ruling party and opposition platforms, including the Peoples Democratic Party, to achieve a common electoral objective.
The former governor also suggested that achieving this broader political goal will require certain stakeholders in the state to step down from their current positions or ambitions. He maintained that traditional party boundaries must be set aside to guarantee victory for President Tinubu in the region, emphasizing that local political realities demand a more inclusive strategy than what the current state leadership can offer.
