Law enforcement authorities in Imo State have taken a 26-year-old resident into custody following an alleged violent incident that left a teenage girl hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect, identified as Ifeanyichukwu Joseph, was apprehended by police officers in Owerri after he allegedly pushed 17-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokorie from a two-storey building.
According to details released by the state police command, the confrontation took place during the afternoon hours along Mbonu Ejike Street in the Ikenegbu area of Owerri. Investigators reported that an altercation had broken out between the suspect and the teenager, who is the niece of the suspect's girlfriend, culminating in the victim falling from the upper level of the structure.
Following the incident, local residents gathered at the scene and reportedly attempted to lynch the suspect before law enforcement intervention.
