The All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has officially unveiled its comprehensive election campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections. The leadership structure features Senate President Godswill Akpabio serving as the grand patron, while Governor Umo Eno assumes the roles of chairman and state coordinator for the upcoming political campaign.
According to party officials, the newly established council incorporates a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including veteran politicians, women's organizations, youth leaders, and technocrats. Furthermore, the party has appointed specific coordinators across all 329 political wards in the state to drive grassroots mobilization and strategy.
The announcement of the council coincided with a special dedication service held at the International Christian Worship Centre in Uyo, the state capital. Governor Eno explained that the religious gathering was organized to acknowledge divine guidance and to formally surrender all campaign plans, structures, and party candidates into the hands of God before commencing vigorous electioneering activities.
During the service, Governor Eno emphasized that the party's aspirations remain rooted in humility, unity, and discipline. He urged members of the campaign team to avoid self-aggrandizement and internal disputes, stressing that the welfare of the citizens of Akwa Ibom must remain the central focus of their collective political ambitions throughout the electoral process.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also addressed attendees, commending Governor Eno for fostering remarkable peace and unity across the state. Akpabio encouraged all party candidates and campaign council members to prioritize reconciliation, wisdom, and selfless service over personal glory as the party prepares for the electoral contests ahead.
The official campaign list was released by Stephen Ntukekpo, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State. The structure also includes former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia, Assam Assam, who has been appointed to serve as the director-general of the state campaign council.
