NIGERIA’S OIL REVENUE SURGES TO N2.57TRN IN JANUARY 2026 ON IMPROVED PIPELINE SECURITY — PINL

Nigeria’s oil and gas revenue rose to N2.571 trillion in January 2026 following intensified surveillance of critical petroleum infrastructure, particularly the Trans-Niger Delta Pipeline, compared to levels recorded in 2025.

The General Manager, Community and Stakeholders Relations at Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), Dr Akpos Mezeh, disclosed this during the March 2026 monthly stakeholders’ engagement meeting held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He stated that operational data released by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) showed that the national oil company recorded a profit after tax of N385 billion in January 2026, generated N2.571 trillion in revenue, and remitted N726 billion to the Federation Account within the same period, following crude oil production of 1.64 million barrels per day driven by improved security across oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region.

Mezeh commended the cooperation of host communities, noting that the performance reflects improved efficiency and stronger output across the oil and gas sector, while emphasizing that collaboration among communities, security agencies, government institutions, and pipeline operators has significantly reduced crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism along operational corridors.

He added that natural gas production also increased to 7,283 million standard cubic feet per day from 6,914 million standard cubic feet per day recorded in December 2025.

He further explained that gas sales rose to approximately 4,978 million standard cubic feet per day, reflecting improved supply to power plants, industrial users, and export markets.

Stakeholders at the engagement meeting in Port Harcourt reiterated the need for sustained community participation, improved monitoring systems, and continuous investment in infrastructure protection to maintain the positive growth trajectory in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

PINL further noted that sustained surveillance operations across key pipeline corridors have continued to enhance crude oil availability, strengthen investor confidence, and support government fiscal planning. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with host communities and security agencies to ensure uninterrupted production, reduce losses, and maintain stability in Nigeria’s upstream oil sector.

These measures are expected to further stabilize production, improve revenue assurance, and enhance national energy security and long-term economic performance across the country, while reinforcing investor confidence in the oil and gas industry as reforms continue under government supervision in 2026 fiscal year implementation across Nigeria’s economic framework.
