Senator Adams Oshiomhole has criticised opposition figures and defended the governance record of President Bola Tinubu as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a television interview, the lawmaker representing Edo North argued that critical challengers have failed to present substantive policy alternatives to the current administration's agenda.
Oshiomhole specifically targeted Peter Obi, characterising his governance approach through the lens of short-term commercial thinking rather than long-term strategic planning. He contrasted this with what he described as President Tinubu's generational focus on national development and structural reforms designed to stabilise the economy.
The former Edo State governor also addressed the records of past administrations, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He pointed to historical salary payment challenges and previous exchange rate frameworks to argue that current policies represent a more structured path forward.
In addition to political commentary, Oshiomhole highlighted recent government interventions regarding worker welfare, referencing a temporary transport allowance agreed upon with labour unions. While some labour groups continue to advocate for permanent wage adjustments rather than temporary relief, the administration maintains that its measures demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting ordinary citizens.
