The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly referred to as the Amotekun Corps, announced the arrest of 301 suspects for various criminal offences across the eighteen local government areas of the state between August and October 2026. The state commander of the agency revealed the figures during a media briefing and parade of suspects at the headquarters of the corps located in Akure, the state capital.
According to the leadership of the security network, several of the detained individuals have already been charged to court, with convictions secured resulting in various jail terms or the fulfillment of fine conditions. Additionally, the agency utilized alternative dispute resolution frameworks to successfully resolve more than one hundred minor cases during the period under review.
During the recent parade, fifteen newly arrested individuals were presented to the public, including nine suspects connected to kidnapping operations, four facing allegations of violating anti-grazing laws, and two accused of breaching public peace. Among those detained are three primary suspects allegedly involved in the abduction of a poultry farmer and the fatal shooting of a woman.
The agency attributed its operational successes to intelligence-gathering efforts and collaboration with local vigilantes, plain-clothes operatives, and community stakeholders across the region. Furthermore, the corps announced plans to introduce a specialized training and retraining unit designated as Operation Laafia DanDan to enhance the capacity of its personnel.
