Social media personality Jaruma hospitalized in Abuja amid police detention

Social media personality Hauwa Saidu Mohammed, widely known as Jaruma, has been rushed to the National Hospital in Abuja due to health concerns arising during her ongoing police detention. A source familiar with the situation confirmed that the Investigating Police Officer transported her to the medical facility after her condition required urgent attention.

Jaruma has remained in custody at the Federal Criminal Investigation Department since Monday. Her detention follows a series of social media posts involving a dispute concerning associates of Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu. The developments have sparked public concern regarding her health and welfare while in custody.

Before her hospitalisation, reports indicated that the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre had imposed stringent administrative bail conditions. These requirements included providing two sureties, consisting of a federal civil servant of at least Grade Level 15 and a business owner possessing landed property within the Federal Capital Territory, alongside extensive documentation and identification records.

Court documents filed against her outline a two-count charge under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, initiated through the Inspector-General of Police's office. The allegations centre on the purported transmission of abusive messages and recordings via TikTok involving a personal assistant to Seyi Tinubu. Legal proceedings are currently underway as observers monitor both her medical recovery and the progression of the case.
