The Nigerian Air Force recorded more than 6,100 flying hours and 2,900 sorties, consuming nearly 10 million litres of aviation fuel in support of national security operations between November 2025 and September 2026. The operational figures were released in a statement detailing activities ahead of the first anniversary of Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.

The missions involved precision air strikes, armed reconnaissance, surveillance, and close air support designed to degrade hostile elements and enhance the effectiveness of ground forces. According to the service, operations were guided by actionable intelligence, defined objectives, and rigorous assessments of operational outcomes to ensure every sortie served a clear tactical purpose.

The update also highlighted broader institutional reforms under Aneke, focusing on personnel welfare, fleet modernization, infrastructure development, and local capacity building. The air force received five additional helicopters in September and is pursuing further acquisitions, including 12 attack helicopters and unmanned aerial systems, alongside ongoing aircraft maintenance and upgrades abroad.

Efforts in personnel management included the promotion of senior and non-commissioned officers, expanded local and international training opportunities, and infrastructure projects covering residential, medical, and operational facilities. Officials noted that the service remains focused on translating investments in equipment and training into improved security outcomes across the country.
