2027: Diri Tasks APC Members on Tinubu’s Victory, Inaugurates Renewed Hope Ambassadors

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has inaugurated coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) across the state’s eight local government areas under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the event, Diri tasked the local government coordinators with mobilising party members ahead of the forthcoming ward, local government, and state congresses, emphasizing the need to ensure the party’s success at all levels. He affirmed that Chief Tiwei Orunimighe remains the state coordinator of the RHA.

The governor urged the coordinators to embrace an inclusive leadership approach and work closely with the South-South zonal coordinator, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, former governor of Delta State. He spoke during an APC stakeholders’ meeting at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.

Diri cautioned against actions that could foster division, stressing unity of purpose as essential for victory in wards and local government areas. He further advised members to temporarily set aside personal political ambitions and focus on securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He stated, “Some of you have personal political ambitions. However, put such ambitions on hold for now. Our primary goal as a party is the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Ensuring his nomination as the APC’s sole presidential candidate is our number one priority.”

The RHA local government coordinators are Kuro Matthias Nyenye (Nembe), Dr. Godson Torukuru (Yenagoa), Uroh Kiani (Brass), Engr. Biewari Orupeighe (Southern Ijaw), High Chief Okubokakpo Ombu (Sagbama), Chief Ebinyo Turner (Ogbia), Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma), and Hon. Orubebe Ogeibiri (Ekeremor).

Governor Diri also unveiled committees to oversee ward congresses in the state, with notable members including Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (Rtd), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and Chief Werinipre Seibarugu.

The APC caretaker committee chairman, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, confirmed that the ward and local government congresses would hold on February 18 and 21, respectively, with the state congress scheduled for March 1, 2026.
